Robin Kelso claims she’s never quite grown up. “I love old toys, children’s books, and Christmas,” she says. “I think all these things have contributed to the look and subjects of my pieces.” She begins with loose sketches then moves to papier maché or clay. Often, at this point the piece takes on a life of its own and ends up much different than the original concept. “It makes the whole process fun,” she says. “I like the fact that the figures often seem to end up with their own little personalities.”
